Happy Custodians' Day to the best of the best! ULPS is blessed with a great group of custodians. They are the quiet heroes of the school. They are the first to arrive each day to make sure our classrooms and hallways are spick and span before school begins. They clean up messes that no one else dares to touch and they are cheerleaders for our students, establishing positive relationships across the school. We are so thankful for Mr. Herb, Mrs. Paula, Mrs. Monica, Mrs. Ann, Mrs. Shirley, Mrs. Debra, Mr. Bobby, Mr. Jo, and Mr. William!
A special thank you to Thomaston Hospice for treating our custodians to a wonderful Big Chic lunch today.

Spirit Items for our Homecoming Spirit Sale!

The local Spade and Trowel Garden Club recently partnered with the ULPS Farm and Garden Club, generously donating over 50 pairs of youth garden gloves and providing a monetary contribution to support our upcoming fall planting project. This project will help beautify the patio area at Upson Lee Primary School, creating a vibrant outdoor space for students and staff to enjoy. ULPS greatly appreciates the support and generosity of the Spade and Trowel Garden Club, whose contributions will have a lasting impact on our school community. Thank you Lauren Hall and Melody Gaskins for delivering today! And thank you to Amanda Gunnels for heading up this club at ULPS!

To celebrate Johnny Appleseed’s birthday, students had a fun-filled week learning all about the life cycle of an apple. They participated in a STEM challenge where they worked together to build apple trees using paper towel rolls, popsicle sticks, and pom poms, showcasing their creativity and engineering skills. The students also completed a life cycle of an apple sequencing puzzle, reinforcing their understanding of the apple’s growth stages. The highlight of the day was tasting the delicious apples, thoughtfully prepared by our wonderful cafeteria staff, which made the celebration even sweeter.

All schools have completed their school lockdown drills and will be returning to their regular class schedules. Parents and guardians, please take a moment this evening to talk with your children about the lockdown experience. Ask questions about the process, such as “What do you do first?” and praise your children for listening to the teacher and doing the things that they have been taught to do during a drill. You may want to explain that safety is something that we must practice, just like we practice reading or math. And, the more we practice, the better and more confident we become. We want safety drills to be a confidence-building experience, not a scary experience. Thank you for entrusting us with the education and safety of your children, and thank you to the Upson County Sheriff's Office for their assistance today! #weareUL

School Lockdown DRILL: At 9 AM this morning, all Thomaston-Upson Schools, with the assistance of the Upson County Sheriff’s Office, initiated a school lockdown DRILL. During a lockdown drill, all exterior doors are locked and no entry or exit is allowed. Phones at the school are not answered during a lockdown drill.

Mrs. Morales' kiddos loved completing the drop tens activity during math class. Each partner has to drop their sticks and count the tens and ones in their number. After, they compare which partners number is bigger.
